In the middle of my very busy book promotion tour in Ireland at the start of April I did an interview with Alan Owens from the Limerick Leader about my book “Secrets of Superhero Science”. The interview took place on a Thursday afternoon, after a more than two hour drive from Dungarvan in Waterford. So as you can imagine I was pretty exhausted after the drive to Limerick. That morning I presented four “Secrets of Superhero Science” workshops at Coláiste Chathail Naofa, which the students thoroughly enjoyed.
An article about myself, the book and my Limerick connections written by Alan Owens was published in the Limerick Leader on April 22nd. I must say it is an excellent article as it captures the key message of the book while also discussing my educational past in Limerick.

On Monday 4th April, I started a very busy book promotion tour of Irish schools at St. Aidan’s Community School in Tallaght, Dublin 24. Over the course of the week I visited six schools in Dublin, Waterford and Limerick about all things superhero and science. During the incredibly busy I presented 22 interactive workshops based around the book “Secrets of Superhero Science”. There were nods of disbelief from many students as I explained to them that some of the superpowers that appear in the superhero films could play an important role in the future.
During one workshop St. Aidan’s Community School in Tallaght I was interviewed by students about what it was like to write the book and other aspects of the superhero science. In addition the Tallaght Echo were present to take some pictures at the workshop for an article that was published in the Tallaght Echo on the 7th April. You can read the entire article by clicking here.
On Monday 11th April I was up bright and early for an interview on the Limerick Today show on Limerick’s Live 95FM. During the interview I discussed my book “Secrets of Superhero Science”, the superhero films, some of the modern science that could be used to create their powers in the future and my scientific career to date. I even got a chance to mention my band Ten Tap Trouble, which is based in Enschede, and our gigging career to date.

This morning I spoke with Ryan Tubridy on “The Ryan Tubridy Show” on RTE Radio 1 about my new book “Secrets of Superhero Science”. It was great to chat with Ryan about the superhero films, the concept of the book and my own scientific research in Eindhoven. The interview was actually my very first radio interview. Any nerves I had at the outset quickly dissipated as myself and Ryan discussed various aspects of the superheroes, their powers and their amazing adventures. We even spoke about pigeon racing and there was a reference to my famous actor name!

A “Once in a lifetime” moment.
It’s not every day that you get the chance to officially release your first self-published book on the 29th of February of a leap year. But that is exactly what I did on Monday 29th February 2016. On that day I self-published my first book entitled “Secrets of Superhero Science” and I couldn’t be prouder. All of the hard work has been worth it, the countless hours of writing, editing, design, re-editing and proof-reading have led to the final manuscript. The writing process was an incredible journey through both the scientific world and the superhero adventures. The official notification for this can be seen on the website literatuurplein.nl by clicking here.
So the book is now out in the world and available to purchase from this website and soon from a number of bookshops around Netherlands and then Ireland.
Stay tuned for more announcements.
